Area Girls Lace Up at Belle Plaine Invite

 

Four of the local girls’ varsity track and field squads got their outdoor seasons started last Tuesday at the Belle Plaine Invitational.

Sigourney competed against the likes of North Mahaska, Lynnville-Sully and Eddyville-Blakesburg in one class, while English Valleys, Keota and Tri-County all competed against one another in the other class.

The Savages put together a solid showing, finishing sixth in their class with 46 points, and were led by the sprint medley crew of Leah Carter, Sarina Gretter, Autum Barthelman and Jordan Carter. Sigourney led from wire to wire and brought home first place in the relay with a time of 2:06.
