Area Squads Begin Outdoor Season at Pekin
Considering the circumstances, coaches and athletes alike couldn’t have asked for much better weather conditions for the first outdoor meet of the season. Despite some gusty conditions late in the afternoon at the always-windy Pekin track, sunny skies and warm temperatures made the first outdoor meet of the year an enjoyable one.
Coach Davis Eidahl and his boys’ squad hosted a two-class meet that included the likes of Lone Tree and Albia, along with area school English Valleys, Sigourney and Tri-County.
Pekin and Sigourney each competed against one another in the same class on Monday, with both teams compiling excellent results. At the end of the day, the Panthers took the team title with 185 points, while the Savages placed third, behind WACO, with 52.
