After starting the season in ho-hum fashion with just two wins in seven chances, the EV baseball team found its groove last week, winning each of its three SICL games to even its record at 5-5.

The Bears began its week with a matchup against a Lynnville-Sully squad that was riding a five-game winning streak coming in, and hoped to end the Hawks’ streak while starting one of their own. EV did just that, taking down L-S by a score of 6-5.

Matt Snakenberg’s squad found itself trailing 5-2 after four innings of play, but was used the arm of Brennen Grimm and good defense behind it to keep L-S off the scoreboard for the final three frames. The EV offense did its part to get the Bears back in the game, as well. The Bears tied the game at five by scoring three runs in the bottom of the fifth and pushed across the go-ahead run in the sixth to give EV the lead and the 6-5 win.
