Bears girls and boys make presence known at the SICL Conference Meet

 MARENGO- On Tuesday, May 2 the English Valleys Bears had both their girls and boys track squads in action at the SICL Conference Track Meet at Iowa Valley High School.

            EV’s boys took tenth on the day out of 12 boys schools from the SICL who ran. EV scored 19 team points, only four points behind Keota for ninth, and a mere point and a half ahead of host school Iowa Valley.

            Luis Gonzalez ran a 13.12 time in the 100-meter dash to take 13th overall and teammate Jason Daughenbaugh came in 20th for the Bears. Caleb Peach ran a 26.76 time in the 200 to finish in 14th overall, while his teammate Nolan Grove brought home 20th.

            John Fisher ran the 800 in 2:25.67 to take 12th. Jacob Glandon brought in five team points with his fourth place finish, while brother Thomas scored three points with a sixth place time of 5:11.97 in the 1600.

            Clayton Moore had a magnificent run in the 400-meter hurdles as he took home fourth place with a time of 1:01.59.

            Chad Owens threw a 92 and a half foot discus toss to finish 16th. Jacob Jackson had a best toss three-quarters of an inch over 32-feet in the shot put to take 20th.
