Board of Supervisors Meeting
Monday, Nov. 24 and Monday, Dec. 1
The Keokuk County Supervisors met a week ago Monday on Nov. 24 and accepted the resignation, reluctantly, from Keokuk County Recorder Melissa Bird. Deputy Recorder Dawn Goldman will fill the position until a new Recorder is either appointed or elected.
Bird was offered the position of Bureau Chief of Health Statistics and will be working for the Iowa Department of Public Health in the Lucas Office Building in Des Moines starting Dec. 15 of this year. In her job she will be working with County Recorders at the State level. Bird has no plans to move at this time and will drive to the job site each day.
In other business the Supervisors took bids for a bridge at What Cheer of $456,908.19 from Peterson Contracting, $466,276.77 from Iowa Bridge and Culvert, $474.930.66 from Muscatine Bridge Co., Inc. and $491,134.47 from Herberger Construction. The County Engineer will review the bids, as Peterson Contracting may not be able to accept the job because of other commitments.
