Colleen Wallerich

Colleen Wallerich, 95, died May 17, 2019 at the Bloomfield Care Center in Bloomfield, Iowa. She was born February 10, 1924 to George E. And Edna Caskey Fixmer near Sigourney, Iowa. She attended country school. On February 10, 1947 she married John Henry “Bud” Wallerich in Oskaloosa. Iowa. While her husband was the Sheriff Colleen was the cook for all of the people at the jail. At the time the house was attached to the jail her and Bud lived in. While her children were growing up Colleen was a beautiful seamstress as she made her children’s clothing. For many years they participated in local parades with their paint horses and also raised Lop Eared bunnies. Colleen was an avid bowler and participated in 17 WBA tournaments. At the age of 87 Colleen held the honor of being Sigourney’s USBC Association eldest active member. Colleen loved to stay busy, and had a talent for growing flowers, for many years she made pumpkin bread for all of the businesses.   

 She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bud on September 30, 1981. Two children Diana Yoss and Richard Wallerich, four sisters Betty Brown, Lois Raines, Audrey Wilson, Patty Rost, three brothers Melvin, Francis (Putt) and Jerry Fixmer.

 She is survived by her children Vicky Yeargan of Texas, Carol (Doug) Moore of Bend Oregon and John C. Wallerich of Sigourney, eleven grandchildren and several great grandchildren, three sisters Kathy Casper of Hill City, Minnesota, Gloria Garner of Bloomfield and Dee Vashaw of Bothell, Washington.

A private family service will be held at a later time. Arrangements by the Holm Funeral Home.
