Dakota Access Pipeline Possibly Coming To Iowa
If approved by the Iowa Utilities Board, the Dakota Access Pipeline Project (DAPL) will begin construction in the fourth quarter of 2015 or the first quarter of 2016. Before construction of the pipeline can begin the Dakota Access Pipeline and the Iowa Utilities Board must host public hearings, open houses/ informational meetings and a state application must be filed and authorized by the state. The Dakota Access Pipeline’s goal is to have the pipeline in full service in 2016. This brings several questions from the community.
Wednesday, Dec. 3 a public hearing was held at Memorial Hall in Sigourney. The Iowa Utilities Board and the Dakota Access Pipeline had representatives present to answer any questions and address concerns from the public. There was a good mixture in the crowd of people for the pipeline and people against the pipeline. Several members of the crowd had the same concerns.
