The Dangers of Sexting

Specialists from Crisis Intervention Services from Oskaloosa came to Sigourney High School Wednesday, April 27, to talk to students about the growing dangers of sexting, and how its consequences are harsher than most expect.

The two representatives were joined by Police Chief Allan Glandon and Assistant County Attorney John Gish for a presentation on sexting-texting nude pictures or other erotic images-with Glandon and Gish  offering opinions from their positions legally and as part of law enforcement. To the surprise of students gathered in the school gymnasium, sending nude pictures can lead to conviction that will haunt them the rest of their life. Want to buy a gun one day? Not if you’re on the sex offender list. Want to live in a good neighborhood? Not if you’re labeled a sex offender because of a single nude photo.
