District Drama in Pleasantville

Eight wrestlers from Sigourney-Keota, and one from Tri-County/Montezuma, entered Saturday’s District meet in Pleasantville with the same intention: advance to State.

While not all eight SK wrestlers, or TCM senior Jacob Weber, survived and will wrestle on Thursday at Wells Fargo Arena, five of them did and they should be elated.

Nathan Fritz, one of four Savage wrestlers to win a District title on Saturday, was the first to clinch a berth at State.

“I want to thank my practice partners and all my coaches I’ve had over the years, and to my parents for pushing me all the way through,” Fritz said after winning both of his matches on Saturday.
