District Special Olympics see three local student-athletes in action

BURLINGTON-Edward Stone Middle School was the sight of the District Special Olympics on Saturday, Feb. 11. Sigourney High School had three amazing athletes competing and of those two advance on to State. Dean Ward-Hunter and Austin Roehrig both took home first place, while Coby Myers brought home third place. Coby and Austin had to compete in the same age class because they both were seniors, and unfortunately had to go against one another in the basketball skills challenge. They both had a terrific time though and showed excellent sportsmanship as Austin won his age group and Coby just missed State qualification. All three athletes should be commended on their efforts. “ I’m so proud of them!” exclaimed Sigourney teacher Mindy Jensen about the three boys she accompanied to Districts performances
