Dr. Miller-Meeks Files Paperwork for Candidacy in IA-2

First Candidate of Either Party to File

OTTUMWA, IOWA – A week after officially announcing her campaign for Congress in Iowa’s Second Congressional District, Dr. Mariannette Miller-Meeks filed the necessary paperwork to be a Republican candidate for the seat. She filed an affidavit of candidacy and exceeded the required number of signatures to qualify. She hand delivered both to the Secretary of State’s office this morning (see attached photo).

“Our campaign is off to a great start,” said Dr. Miller-Meeks. “Iowans from all over the district braved the frigid weather last week to join our kickoff tour and this week our campaign will be officially on the ballot.

“After listening to Iowans, it’s crystal clear: Washington is a dysfunctional mess that desperately needs a problem-solver to fix it. The Affordable Care Act is driving up the cost of insurance premiums and increasing part-time work at a time when we need good-paying jobs with better take-home pay. I saw through working with Governor Branstad the last three years how much can be accomplished when partisanship is set aside for the greater good. That problem-solving, common-sense Iowa attitude is what Congress needs.”

Summary:

·       Collected 2157 signatures (1686 is minimum required)

·       Turned in 14 counties that met minimum threshold (12 are required)

·       Received signatures from all 24 counties in the district
