Eagles and Trojans Take On Knoll Ridge
5-5 Keota, Tri-County & HLV @ English Valleys
Finding a dry afternoon to hit the links has been next to impossible this spring. Week after week the seven-day forecasts around southeast Iowa have been merciless. Finally, last Monday, May 5, Mother Nature gave area golf teams a window of opportunity to get out the clubs.
English Valleys hosted HLV, Keota and Tri-County last Monday at Knoll Ridge Country Club in one of the few meets around the area in the past two weeks.
HLV took home the team titles on both the boys’ and girls’ side last Monday. On the boys’ side, the Warriors finished with a team score of 187, while Keota finished third out of four teams with 198. Kolton Greiner had the best day of any Eagle and fifth-best day overall on the boys’ side. Greiner finished up with a nine-hole round of 46, four strokes fewer than John Mather, who shot a 50. Tying for the team’s third-best score at EV were Zach Mousel and Grant Hill, who each finished with 50s. Sam Ollinger just missed Keota’s top four by shooting a 54, while Avery Conrad came in at 58.
