Believe it or not, the South Iowa Cedar League golf season began as scheduled last week. On Monday, April 7, Keota and Tri-County each traveled to Sigourney to open the season against the Savages. Sigourney did enough to capture the team win and started its season full of high expectations on a good note.

Sigourney’s top four golfers finished with a score of 190, while Tri-County was just behind at 192. Keota rounded out the field with a mark of 207.

Senior Shane Swearingen and freshman Kaden Bensen had the two best rounds for the Savages, as they each came through with 46s. Just behind Sigourney’s two leaders was junior Gage Greiner, who came in at 47, while Blane Long, another junior, rounded out the Savages’ top four with a score of 51. Colby Kerkove shot a 56 and Adam DeRegnier shot a 57.
