EV Girls’ Golf Suffers First Loss

Jeff Kingland’s English Valleys girls’ golf squad had only one meet last week and it came against a very good North Mahaska team. The Bears entered their competition against the Warhawks with a perfect 3-0 record but that changed for the worse last Monday.

A two-stroke differential was all that separated the EV girls from improving to 4-0, but instead, North Mahaska handed them their first loss of the spring. NM’s Mackenzie Fuller and her nine-hole round of 48 helped the Warhawks defeat English Valleys, 203-205. EV’s Rylee Voss shot a spectacular round of 43 to earn medalist honors, but no other Bears shot better than 51. Jessica Riegel came through with a score of 51, while Claire Kingland shot a 55. Paige Hester and Sydnie Stephenson each finished their day with 56s.
