(Coralville, Iowa) June 19, 2014 – For the first time since 2001, the Iowa City Airport is hosting a free community Air Show June 28-29.  The Saturday show will feature high-intensity aerobatic performers, aerial demonstrations, various aircrafts on display, children’s activities, airplane rides for sale, local food vendors, and much more!  On Sunday, the airport will host a “Young Eagles” event, which offers free airplane rides for kids 8 to 17 years old.  Sunday will also be a “rain date” for the air show performance.

Join Iowa Children’s Museum PLAYologists from 9 am – 4 pm on June 28, 2014 for fun, hands-on aviation activities.  Don’t miss the special guest appearances by Orville Wright and Amelia Earhart.  Join us for activities including stop rockets, Styrofoam gliders, a paper airplane derby, chemical reaction rockets, flight simulators including flying a model “Vapor” with the Iowa City Aerohawks and build your own wind tunnel.   

Enjoy high-intensity air show performances from Noon-2:00 PM at the Iowa City Airport. Gates will be open for the Fly Iowa Aviation Celebration at 8:00AM Saturday for community members to purchase breakfast and get a head-start on viewing the various displays and hourly aircraft demonstrations leading up to the airshow.
