Fountain celebrates 75th birthday

For many those gathered for the Lewis Memorial Fountain’s 75th birthday celebration, fountain memories were to be found in abundance.

For Donald Sherwood, a graduate of Sigourney High School, the fountain was a central gathering place.

“We [never had] any place else to go,” said Sherwood.

Visiting the fountain after sunset stands out in particular for Sherwood.

“Daylight doesn’t do it any justice,” said Sherwood. “You need to see it at night.”
