Lady Bears finish third at BP meet

Belle Plaine – The Lady Bears began their outdoor season on the Belle Plaine track on March 26, earning enough points to place third. Three athletes stood out by helping their team throughout the meet with Hannah Marsh, Carly Stanerson and Madison Trimpe earning 20 individual points or more.

Through the 18 events, EV wound up placing in fifth or better in 14 events with seven of them earned in relays. Marsh led the team with 24.50 points earned by running the fastest time in the 400m hurdles (1:18.82) and had the best jump in the long jump (14’-3.50”). Stanerson added another win by running the best time in the 400m dash (1:05.93) and finished second in the 200m dash (29.28).

Just as successful off the track, the Lady Bears picked up some more big points in their shot put and discus events, in addition to Marsh’s placement in the long jump. Trimpe picked up where she left off last year, qualifier for the State meet, by winning the discus (103’-8.00”) and shot put (32’-3.50”) for a total of 20 team points.

With an emphasis on their speed this year, the Lady Bears wound up winning two relays and finished runner-up in three other relays. A combination of Marsh, Isabel Schneider, Maddie Mikesell and Stanerson ran a time of 4:40.93 in the 4x400m relay and the group of Clara Mews, Olivia Heyne, Schneider and Kaeley Axmear ran a time of 12:03.96 in the 4x800m relay, both top finishes.
