Lady Bears finish third at home meet

Seven girls’ teams scored in the cross country meet hosted by English Valleys at Knolls Ridge in North English on September 11. The Lady Bears took third place behind two of their five girls who scored placed in the top 20.

Carly Stannerson was the first to cross the line for the Lady Bears, finishing in fifth place, running a time of 23:34.72. She was within a half-minute of running her best time of the season so far but did manage to get her best individual placement. Following her lead was Maddison Koehn, running a time of 25:51.68 to finish in 17th place. Megan Glandon and Madison Mikesell finished just a few seconds apart from each other with Megan running a time of 27:24.93 to finish 26th and Mikesell finishing 27th with a time of 27:34.15.

The final Lady Bear to earn points was Clara Mews, running a time of 27:52.38, finishing in 29th place. The other girl on the team who ran was Nevaeh Briggs, finishing in 64th place with a time of 35:53.82.

As a team, the Lady Bears earned 75 points, finishing just one point shy of Wilton for second place. Tipton won resoundingly with 38 team points.

English Valleys had four boys run for them, coming up just short of the five runner minimum to earn team points. Jacob Glandon ran another quality meet for the Bears, finishing ninth after running a time of 19:30.84. It was his best placing in the teams’ second meet of the season. Bryson Grove also had his best placement of the year, finishing 21st with a time of 20:55.68.

Other boys to run for EV were Luis Gonzales (23:02.43) finishing 46th and Baylor Wiseman (30:46.09) finishing in 89th place.

The next scheduled meet for English Valleys was on September 13 at the Diamond Trail Golf Club in Lynnville-Sully. They had another away competition on September 17 when they ran at BGM.
