Lady Panthers Dominate in Outdoor Opener

The stint of Pekin girls’ track and field coach Josh Roudabush began just how he and his Lady Panthers expected. Pekin dominated its competition last Tuesday at West Burlington-Notre Dame’s Falcon Relays. The Panthers earned gold in seven relays, six individual races and one field event.

Pekin won the 4x100, 4x200, 4x800 and shuttle hurdle relays last Tuesday, along with both the sprint and distance medleys.

Two fresh faces, Kaylee Linder and Taylor Reynolds, each came onto the scene in impressive fashion in their first outdoor varsity meets. Linder won both the 100-yard dash with a time of 13.72 seconds and the 200-yard dash with a time of 28.93 seconds. Reynolds, another freshman, took the crown in the 400-meter dash by finishing in a time of 1:04.
