Lady Panthers eliminated in first round of Regionals

The Lady Panthers were able to take an early lead at Pleasantville but couldn’t hold off the charge made by the Trojans in the middle of the game. A small rally late allowed Pekin to make things interesting but more runs by the Trojans ended those hopes in a 4-13 loss.

Pekin managed to put together a couple two-run innings, one to begin the game and take a brief lead, and another on the tail end to cut into the deficit. In between those scores, Pleasantville scored eight straight runs and then scored the final five to end the game.

Most of the damage came from the top half of the batting order for the Lady Panthers with Ellie Ledger and Kennedy Coleman accounting for all runs scored. Three of the seven team hits were doubles, one of which drove in two runs.

    Lady Panther leaders: Ellie Ledger – 2 hits, Erika Coleman – 2 runs, Ellie Ledger/Kennedy Coleman – 2 RBIs, Zoey Wright/Cate Roth – 1 SB, Kylie Davis – 1 K

For Kennedy and Makenna Myers, it was their last game suiting up for Pekin, who will be led by Wright and Ledger next year as the lone seniors. A slew of those returning will be juniors with a couple freshman to round out the roster with Wright and Ledger.
