Lady Panthers Run Streak to Nine

Despite having two of its closest games this season, the Pekin girls’ varsity basketball team just keeps winning.

After an easy 66-40 win over WACO last Tuesday, in which Beth Atwood scored 28 points and grabbed 17 rebounds, the Lady Panthers took a trip to Wapello – a place coach Davis Eidahl calls a “very hard place to play.”

Sure enough, Wapello gave the Panthers one of their toughest games of the year, holding them to a season low point total. Still, as good as Wapello played on Friday, Pekin was just a little bit better. The Panthers held the Arrows to single-digit point totals in three of the four quarters, helping Pekin get the 39-29 win.
