Lady Panthers win Bullette Invite

Mediapolis - A slew of girls earned points for the Lady Panthers throughout the day on the Mediapolis track to kick off their outdoor season March 28. Amongst them, Gracie Baetsle was the most effective athlete, earning over 20 individual points. As a team, the Lady Panthers racked up 161.50 points, with host Mediapolis finishing second with 98 team points.

Pekin had several top placements including Baetsle running a time of 17.84 seconds in the 100m hurdles and finished second in the 400m hurdles, running a time of 1:20.11. Pekin also had Sarah Eubanks finish with the best time of 1:04.38 in the 400m dash and Katie Jones won the shot put with a throw for 33’-11.00”.

A handful of runner-up finishes led to more big points which included Kerrigan Pope throwing for 108’-8.00” in the discus, Lauren Derscheid running a time of 11:59.72 in the 3000m run and 5:34.41 in the 1500m run and Maddie Black running a time of 2:41.09 in the 800m run.

 

Some other notable individual finishes included a third-place run by Lily Fariss in the 400m dash (1:07.18), fourth place in the 800m run by Mia Clark (2:49.81) and fifth place in the 1500m run by Emily Laumeyer (5:51.62). Mackenzie Dahlstrom placed fourth in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:25.37, Emi Zook had a throw of 106’ to take third and Jones had a throw for 100’-2.00” to place fourth, both in the discus.
 
The Lady Panthers were back on the track April 2 facing a bigger test in a coed meet, hosted by Davis County.
