Lady Trojans advance with win over Keota

For the second time in as many weeks, the Lady Trojans hosted the Lady Eagles only this time it was with “win or go home” implications. A week after shutting down Keota the Lady Trojans did it again on July 2 in Regionals by a score of 15-2.

The offense got things going in a hurry, scoring a flurry of runs to give themselves a big lead in the first inning. They batted through the order and got some offensive involvement from nearly everyone on the roster in the process. Keota fought back in the top of the second inning and got two runs back to cut the lead down to seven runs.

Another big inning of offense was all Tri-County would need as they tacked on six more runs in the third to end the game at 15-2. Emma Miover pitched all three innings, allowing one hit and two walks and earned the win.

The middle part of the lineup did most of the damage scoring all but three of the 15 runs and combined to drive in eight of those runs. Jenna Leer had one at-bat in a pinch-hit spot and delivered by getting on base and bringing in two runs.

    Lady Trojan leaders: Reace Thomas/Myrissa Garber/Taylor Dowd – 2 hits, Reace Thomas/Myrissa Garber/Taylor Dowd/Skyler Fisher/Emma Miover – 2 runs, Myrissa Garber/Skyler Fisher/Jenna Leer/Mariah Little – 2 RBIs

The win advanced Tri-County to face Sigourney in the next round of Regional play on July 3. In their first two matchups with the Lady Savages, Tri-County scored five runs while giving up 29. Though they lost again to Sigourney, the Lady Trojans kept things close most of the way, allowing no more than three runs to be scored in one inning. They limited Sigourney to seven runs, including four shutout innings. The offense was held to four hits with no runs scoring in the 0-7 loss.
