Laugh and Learn Daycare ready to make memories

SIGOURNEY- A new daycare is helping to fill a pressing need in Sigourney immediately. Alisca deRegnier has opened a new day care Sigourney, in property owned by Duane Atwood and located at 909 E Jackson Street. SADC recently held a ribbon cutting for deRegnier welcoming her to the community as a business owner. However, deRegnier is no stranger to Sigourney or Keokuk County. She currently lives in North English and sends her children to the Sigourney School District.
“I’m born and raised here in Sigourney and had a lot of people tell me I need to move to town, there’s a big need,” she said of her Sigourney ties.
DeRegnier has over 20 years of experience in watching children.
“I’ve been at my own home for 22 years and before that I was here in Sigourney for four years at a daycare before I had kids of my own,” deRegnier said.
Now that her own children have grown older and the current group of children that she was watching in her own home daycare have aged out of her in-home daycare, deRegnier said she felt now was the time to start her own daycare in Sigourney.
“I’ve been told by many people of the need,” she said.
She added that working with children brings her much joy, including the memories she makes watching children grow over the years.
“It’s when they love to come and they don’t like to leave,” deRegnier said of her favorite part about watching younger children.
