Little leads way for Lady Trojans at conference meet

Hannah Miover participated in multiple events for the Lady Trojans at the SICL meet on May 1. Her best individual finish of the day was 18th in the 800m run, finishing up with a time of 3:22.13.

Miranda Little has taken on a leadership role on the Tri-County girls’ track team. In only her second year on the squad, she has found her stride as of recent in her field events competition and continued to help lead her team at the conference meet on May 1 at Lynnville-Sully.

    Little had herself quite the week leading up to the SICL meet, taking first in the discus event in the last few meets to close out the regular season. Her best throw of the season measured at 101’-5.00” and she blew that away at Lynnville-Sully. She picked up six points for her team with a third-place finish in the discus with 106’-2.00”.

    On the track, Little found some more success as well. She was able to run the 13th-fastest time in the 200-meter dash, clocking at 30.98 seconds. In her third event of the day she took 13th in the shot put, throwing for 25’-3.75”.

    Another leader on the team has been McKenzie Hammes, one of the veterans running in her final year for Tri-County. Her best finish on the day was eighth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:09.91, which earned her one point. She also served as the anchor in the 4x100m relay as the Lady Trojans tied for 10th with a time of 58.64 seconds.

Earlier in the day, she anchored her team to an eighth-place finish in the 800m sprint medley with a time of 2:05.39, which earned Tri-County a point. Her last event of the day was the 100-meter dash, finishing 10th with a time of 14.43 seconds.

800-meter run: Hannah Miover finished 18th (3:22.13)

100m hurdles: Taylor Dowd finished 11th (19.17)

Tri-County had one more competition left on the schedule, set to compete at Iowa Valley on May 3, before the District meet at Waco on May 10.
