Local Youth Learn Appreciation for Homelessness
To help junior and senior high school students understand how it feels to be homeless in Iowa on a cold November night, Sigourney United Methodist Church youth group leaders, Jaci Jarmes and Kelly Mousel, are encouraging their youth group members to build individual cardboard shelters and spend the night sleeping in them on the church lawn on Saturday, Nov. 16. A soup supper for the community is held in conjunction with the group’s homeless awareness “sleepout.”
