Long and Millikins lead Pekin past Holy Trinity Friday

PEKIN-The Panthers hosted a non-conference opponent in Holy Trinity Catholic out of Fort Madison on Friday, Feb. 10. This was the Panthers final tune-up game before playing at Keota Thursday, Feb. 16 for District play. The Panthers were all business Friday as they earned a 59-51 victory, improving their regular season record to 11-9 on the year.

Things didn’t start out well for the Panthers as Holy Trinity held a 12-5 first quarter lead. The Panthers trailed 26-23 at the half, but came out in the second half firing on all cylinders as they added 36 second–half points to earn the eight-point victory at home.

Levi Long was impressive for Pekin with 20 points and seven rebounds on seven of eight shooting from the field. Cameron Millikin added 18 points and three steals, while Ryan Millikin added 13 points, six rebounds and six assists. Caleb Comstock added six points and two assists as well for Pekin.

The Panthers get set for a rematch with non-conference rivals Keota on Thursday, as they lost a close contest at Keota earlier this season. They will look for revenge in this contest Thursday, and to extend their season.
