North Mahaska holds serve at home against Savages

NEW SHARON- The Savages fell for the sixth straight game, as they were unable to keep pace with North Mahaska on Friday, Jan 13 losing 64-27. Sigourney played decent in the first quarter keeping the game within a single-digit margin for a majority of the quarter, ultimately being outscored by ten. The second quarter though, they were unable to find offense and North Mahaska continued to execute offensively. By the half it was a 35-13 NM lead.

The second half was more of the same, as Sigourney had no answer for NM’s Jackson Munson as well as Milan DeJong. Sigourney was led in scoring by Dustin Haines once again, as he also added an assist and three rebounds. Spencer Magill continues to improve and use his athleticism to get to the hoop off the dribble as he scored seven, adding an assist and a steal. Kyle Weber added four points and six rebounds, while Brady Powers was unable to be a factor scoring, but made up for that with three boards, a team-leading four assists and a steal. Tristan Bell had a bucket and a free throw as well in this one.

Sigourney will fall to 4-10 with the loss, as they continue to try and stay competitive on a nightly basis. This was one that got away from the Savages early, and they had trouble matching up with the size and experience of this NM squad. Sigourney will continue to look for consistency moving forward as a team.
