8-29 Pekin 32, Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont 0

The Pekin defense appears to be mighty strong once again in 2014, despite losing a numbers of key starters from last year’s nine-win team.

The Panthers held Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont, a 1A playoff team in 2013, to 123 total yards in their 32-0 win on opening night last Friday.

Pekin’s offense found the end zone twice in the first quarter, first on a 66-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Trever Northup to Ryan Swanson, and again on an 83-yard catch and run from Northup to Christian Wittrock. Northup completed four-of-ten pass attempts for 212 yards and two touchdowns.
