Panthers & Savages Battle On the Court

The nonconference opponents battled it out in a best-of-five match that started with a bang for the host Savages.

Sigourney came out of the gates hot, scoring six of the set’s first nine points to gain an early 6-3 lead. Ken Hutchinson’s Panthers bounced back, though. After a series of defensive miscues by Pekin, the Panthers stepped up their team communication and fought back to tie Game 1 at ten. Sigourney stayed composed, though, and scored the next five points to take a 15-10 lead. The Savages proceeded to pull away and recorded a 25-14 win to take the first set.
