Pekin’s Early Dominance Continues

While it’s not exactly clear just how good Pekin’s high school football team is right now, one statistic suggests that the Panthers are really really good.

Following Pekin’s 56-0 win over Danville last Friday, the Panthers have now outscored their opposition by a count of 133 to 14. Those numbers mean two things: 1) Pekin is good; 2) Pekin hasn’t been tested.

The Panthers’ 56-0 win against Danville was the team’s most lopsided result of the season. Joe Donovan’s team simply did whatever it wanted, and its rushing numbers are proof of that.

As a team Pekin ran for 261 yards on only 26 carries: an average of ten yards per attempts. Leading Pekin’s ground attack was junior Chase Copeland, who ran for 96 yards and two scores on ten carries.
