Coming into the season the Pekin boys’ basketball team expected to be bigger and more physical than nearly every other team it matched up against.

On Saturday, the Panthers punished Highland, Riverside in the paint and on the offensive glass and pulled away in the fourth quarter to improve to 5-1 in the SEISC with a 67-45 win. The loss was just Highland’s second of the season.

Pekin set the tone early with great defensive intensity throughout the first half.
