Pekin Boys Notch Win No. 1

Stingy defensive play, coupled with good rebounding, will often be enough to put teams in position to win games. That was the case for the Pekin boys’ basketball team last Tuesday at Columbus.

            The Panthers held Columbus to just 31 percent shooting from the field and won the bounding battle 43-to-26, helping them pick up their first win of the season, 57-38.

            Leading the rebounding effort for the Panthers was Keaton Winn, who finished with 15 rebounds on the night to go along with his 14 points, five steals and four assists.
