Pekin cruises to Ruritan Relays title

Packwood - The Panthers made it look easy in their second outdoor track meet of the season in as many weeks, even with their smaller roster. They hosted several schools on March 25 for the Ruritan Relays and wound up with 165.50 team points, the next highest team with 78 points.

Pekin earned points in nearly every event, many of which they had more than one athlete finish highly in. One example was the long jump in which Devin Fraise (18’-6.50”) and Cole Earnest (18’-2.00”) finished one-two for a combined 18 team points.

The Panthers also dominated in their various relays by taking first in the 4x100m shuttle hurdle (1:07.13), first in the 4x100m (46.25), second in the DMR (4:02.38), second in the 4x800m (9:11.60), second in the 4x200m (1:41.22) and third in the 4x400m (4:01.09). From the relays alone, the Panthers earned 58 team points.

Not missing a step, Pekin finished first in both the 1600m and 3200m run with Brady Millikin (4:46.69) and Colten Glosser (10:45.84), respectively, while Zack Wise finished fourth in the 1600m run with a time of 5:22.89. Both Glosser and Wise placed second and third in the 800m run with an average time of 2:19.87 between them.

The Panthers had a week off before they went down to Davis County for their next competition on April 2.
