Pekin Hosts Jerry Horton Pantherette Relays
Keota and Tri-County, along with the host Pekin Lady Panthers, took to the oval last Thursday and ran in some near-ideal weather conditions at the Jerry Horton Pantherette Relays.
The Panthers wound up taking the title with an impressive 232 points, well ahead of Mediapolis, who finished second with 140. Tri-County placed six and Keota finished in seventh.
Pekin recorded a plethora of first-place finishes, including from Drake Relays qualifiers Kaysha Dodson and Shelbie Williams. Dodson cleared 5’4’’ in the high jump, clinching her berth at Drake, while Williams, who was already guaranteed a spot in Des Moines, won the shot put with a mark of 38’10’’.
