Pekin plays Keota down to the wire, but can’t pull off upset on the road in District quarterfinals

KEOTA-Pekin hit 11 3’s on the night, holding Cole Stout and that high powered Keota offense to just two 3 pointers made. That alone should have meant victory for the Panther’s, but Keota’s Avery Conrad had other ideas as he took advantage of his size inside time and time again in the Panthers District quarterfinal loss to the Eagles.

            Things were close after a quarter of play with Keota leading 12-11, but then the Panthers were doubled up in the second, trailing at the half 30-20. Pekin and Keota put on an offensive clinic in the second half, as it was a 50-42 Keota lead heading into the fourth. The Panthers went on several runs throughout the fourth quarter to bring the game within one possession, culminating in a look from 3 to tie the game with roughly 15 seconds to play, ultimately the shot was off, and left Pekin just short of pulling off a huge road come-from-behind victory.
