Pekin XC Owns the SEISC

For the first time since 1988, the Pekin boys’ and girls’ varsity cross country teams took home team conference titles last week at Wapello.

“It was a nice night for us,” head coach Davis Eidahl said. “After tonight we have about three weeks to get ready for State. We know what we have to do and now it’s our job to go out and do it.”

Notching her third-straight individual SEISC title and leading her Panthers to an easy win over second-place Mediapolis, Pekin’s Gwynne Wright did what was expected at Wapello, winning the girls’ 4K by more than twenty seconds (15:14).

“We started off a little shakey this year,” said Wright. “But we’ve been getting better and better each meet. I’ve put in a lot of miles throughout practice and over the weekends. It’s starting to pay off. Now it’s about cutting seconds of my time and just keep getting better.”
