A perfect 3-0 week in conference play last week left the Sigourney softball team alone in second place in the South Iowa Cedar League with eight wins, to just one loss.

The Savages started their week with a tricky matchup in Thornburg against Tri-County. Big offensive performances by Becca Ohland, Maddi Denny and Emily Danowsky, along with a solid outing by Jordan Carter, were enough for Sigourney to get past the Trojans last Monday, 6-3.

After falling behind 2-0 after three innings, Sigourney rallied to score twice in both the fourth and fifth innings to take a 4-2 lead. The Savages then added runs in the following two innings to grab a 6-2 lead, before holding on for the 6-3 win.
