Playoff Run Ends at Sub-State

 

Wins over Wayne and Twin Cedars in the first two rounds of the District playoffs left the Sigourney boys’ varsity basketball team in excellent position to return to Sub-State for the second time in three years.

Only Lynnville-Sully, who the Savages split with during the regular season, stood in the way of Sigourney and a District title.

The Savages held a sizable lead for much of the game saw Lynnville-Sully climb to within four in the fourth quarter, and eventually pulled away for 61-53 win.

“The game plan was to just play hard and keep [Kyle] Van Dyke off of the offensive boards,” said Sigourney senior Colby Kerkove. “On offense we tried to spread the floor. I thought we did a pretty good job of that, especially in the first half.”
