Savages send three to State in Districts Saturday, Panthers send none

PLEASANTVILLE-On Saturday, Feb. 11 Sigourney-Keota and Pekin wrestled in 1A District 5 action to determine who would move on to State individually. Sigourney-Keota had eight wrestlers in action at Districts, and Pekin had four. By the end of the day the Savages would send three on to State, while Pekin would fall short of sending any to State, officially ending their season.

We will start with the Panthers, who had four wrestlers in action. Kaden Baker at 152 lbs. lost both of his matches as he finished in fourth on the day. Drake Harbison of Pekin took third on the day at 145 lbs. beating Trey Albert of Cardinal, but falling short of making it to State in his junior season. Zach Hammes also took third place at 126 lbs. finishing the season with a 34-8 record as a sophomore. Elijah Sieren took fourth at 126 lbs. losing both of his matches on the day to Austin Flynn of Ogden and Tyler Strasser of North Mahaska. The Panthers had a good run with a good mix of veteran and underclassmen, and will look to continue to build off of their success this season, and get a few of these guys to that next level next season.
