Sigourney downs HLV on the road in boys action Tuesday, head to break at 4-4

VICTOR- Sigourney’s boys basketball team was in action Tuesday, Dec. 20 against HLV, Victor on the road. The Savages edged their way past HLV for a 34-31 victory. The Savages clawed their way through this game, which it wasn’t necessarily the prettiest of games at times, but when it was all said and done the Savages came away with a win, and a win is most definitely a win.

Sigourney was led in scoring by Brady Powers and Dustin Haines who both had nine. Dustin added seven steals, four assists and seven rebounds. Powers had four steals and two assists. Haines had been sidelined with a broken finger, to go with a wrist injury amongst other ailments, but he was able to go and really provide a much-needed spark for the Savages. Kyle Weber added four points, eight boards and four blocks on the night.

The win puts Sigourney at 4-4 on the season as they enter the holiday break. They will be back in action after the first of January. The schedule gets much tougher over the next few weeks after the break, and for them to be at .500 now is a very good sign considering there are some tough matchups ahead. They will look to continue to grow and gain experience as a team, and use the wins and loses from this season to better them in the future.
