Sigourney Elementary Students Donate Christmas Meal to Teen Safe Haven

Last year some of the classes at Sigourney Schools school decided not to do their traditional Christmas gift exchange, but instead donate money to help a school in Washington, Ill. whose library been destroyed by a tornado. This year the 3rd grade wanted to continue the spirit of giving and do another service project, but one a little closer to home. Originally they were going to provide a Christmas meal for a family in the community, but at the last minute it fell through. With the help of Billy Claywell, they found a new "family" in need. The children would provide a meal for the teen center located in Agency, a safe haven for teens at risk. Mrs. Moore and Mrs. Streigle asked the 31 third graders to bring in $3 to donate for this cause. Their generosity was overwhelming and they ended up raising $155.
