Sigourney Girls Break Loose in Wellman

After an entire week off due to wet and cold weather, the Sigourney girls’ track and field team got back in action last week starting at Mid-Prairie. Evidently, the Savages executed five great practices in their impromptu off week, because Andy Harter’s squad set season-best times in six separate events at the Hawk Coed Relays in Wellman last Tuesday; two of the season-best marks were recorded by senior Becca Ohland. Ohland’s time of 16.79 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles and 1:15.42 in the 400-meter hurdles were each her quickest times of the spring.

Ohland was also part of Sigourney’s season-best races in the shuttle hurdle and 4x100 relays.  In the shuttle hurdle relay at Mid-Prairie, Brooke Schroeder, Courtney Herman, Lily Hammes and Ohland finished in a time of 1:16.16. Later that night in the 4x100, the crew of Mallory Shaw, Jordan Carter, Sierra Green and Ohland clocked in at 57.88 seconds to set another season best.
