Sigourney school board takes action on changes

The Sigourney School Board has agreed to borrow $1.9 million to fund three years of special project, and approved the list of year one projects totaling $510,000 on Wednesday, April 20.

In the fall of 2014, a facility assessment conducted by the Iowa School Board association pointed out several needs for the school, including improvements. The Sigourney school board subsequently created this three year plan to decide what needed done sooner rather than later. Projects include in the first year plan are improvements to the outdated Elementary playground, new lights and upgrades for the high school lobby ceiling, technology upgrades for Elementary classes, new maintenance equipment and $120,000 for a contingency plan in case of unexpected needs.
