Snowstorm impact in Sigourney

The snowstorm that hit Sigourney Saturday, Jan. 31 through Monday, Feb. 2 caused large amounts of snow, damage to a local business and several accidents on the roads. Mayor Terry Hollingsworth declared a snow emergency on Saturday, Jan. 31 until Monday, Feb 2. A snow emergency means that no vehicles are to be parked on city streets during this time (City Ordinance 3-3-32). This will allow streets to be cleared in a more productive manner. If your vehicle remains parked around the square, it will be towed (City Ordinance 3-3-30). Once the streets have been plowed and are fully opened the ban can be considered lifted (Section 3-3-32 of the Sigourney Municipal Code).
