Top-Ranked Panthers Keep Strutting Their Stuff

The top-ranked (Class 1A) Pekin girls and eighth-ranked Pekin boys cross country teams continue to dominate into the middle portion of their schedules. Both teams took team titles at Albia on September 22, and again on the 27 at Lake Darling.

            At Albia, the Pekin girls placed seven runners in the top ten to cruise to first place, well ahead of second-place Centerville.

            Gwynne Wright, the No. 3 runner in all of Class 1A, took home the title with a time of 15:08. Coming in second with a time of 16:13 was Taylor Lock, while Shea Dahlstrom (16:30) placed fourth, Sloan Reighard (17:11) placed fifth and Bonnie Becker (17:11) finished sixth. Pekin’s Devin Dailey came in seventh overall with a time of 17:12, and Taylor Winn clocked in at 17:34 and placed ninth.
