Two Games, Two Nail Biters for Savages

A challenging early season schedule resulted in one close win and one close loss for the Sigourney varsity girls’ basketball team.

            The Savages began their season at home against a very good BGM squad and came up just short of a win.

            Sigourney trailed 13-9 after the first quarter and dug itself an even deep hole by halftime. BGM scored an impressive 18 points in the second period and took a 31-18 lead into the locker room at the half.

            The Sigourney defense cranked up its intensity in the second half and sparked the start of a comeback. The Savages allowed just seven third-quarter points to BGM, while scoring 13 themselves, cutting BGM’s lead to 38-31 heading into the fourth.
