Unbeaten Panthers Fly Into Playoffs

Whether or not the coaches would agree, the Pekin varsity football team just completed a perfect regular season.

With a 43-6 win at home last Friday against Winfield-Mt. Union (5-4, 4-3), the Panthers won Class A, District 6, and finished a perfect 9-0 on the season.

Van Buren (7-2, 6-1), who Pekin beat 55-20 in late September, was the only other team who was in striking distance of the Panthers for the district title, but the Panthers’ blowout win against WMU ended any shot for the Warriors.

Pekin took to the air more than it typically does, on Friday against Winfield-Mt. Union. The Panthers let quarterback Trever Northup loose, and as a result, took a commanding 31-0 lead into the half.
