Unbeaten Panthers Notch Homecoming Shutout

For the third time this season, the fourth-ranking Pekin Panthers recorded a Friday night shutout on the gridiron. Pekin’s defense suffocated Cardinal (Eldon), particularly in the second half, holding the Comets (0-6) to a meager 181 yards of offense. The dominant defensive performance by the Panthers (6-0) was led, in large part, by senior linebacker Cole Reighard.

            Reighard , who leads the team in tackles, finished with an other-worldly 17.5 tackles, including ten solos, and helped hold Cardinal scoreless.

            “I’ve got to be a leader and show the younger guys what to do,” said Reighard. “It’s big to keep the team jazzed up and ready to go. “We’ve got to keep looking at every game like it’s our last. To us, every game needs to be like a championship game.”
