World of Outlaws STP Sprint Cars Return to 34 Raceway on Friday, June 27, 2014

The World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series will make its fourth career stop at 34 Raceway on Friday, June 27. In three previous Outlaws events at the 3/8-mile oval, a different winner has been crowned each time.

“There’s been some good racing there,” Donny Schatz said. “We’ve had a little bit of every spectrum there.” Schatz, who currently leads the World of Outlaws championship standings, is one of those drivers seeking his first victory at 34 Raceway. He won a heat race and finished fourth last year during the competitive event. “It’s close to the Knoxville market so you get a lot of great cars,” he said. “I’m looking forward to it.”

Craig Dollansky led all 34 laps and he won last season’s race by more than seven seconds.

Prior to last season, the World of Outlaws hadn’t competed at 34 Raceway since 2009, when Joey Saldana powered to the win. Schatz led 20 laps before finishing second that year. Tony Bruce Jr. claimed the inaugural race in 2008, which is his lone World of Outlaws feature victory.

The World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series, which features open-wheel, 900-plus horsepower race cars, travels the country for more than 90 races at more than 50 dirt tracks in 24 states and three Canadian provinces.

Pits open at 2 p.m.; Main gates open at 4 p.m.; Racing scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

Also on the card will be the 305 Sprints and Midget Lites.

A pit/combo ticket is also available, which includes a reserved seat, a pit pass and a “Class of 2014” poster of the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series drivers. Adult pit/combo tickets are $38 and pit/combo tickets for children aged 0 to 12 are $25.
